A Promise of DeliveranceA Promise of DeliveranceIsaiah 14:24-28 The Lord of hosts has sworn, saying, Surely, as I have thought and planned, so shall it come to pass, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand – That I will break the Assyrian in My land, and upon my mountains I will tread him underfoot. Then shall the (Assyrian’s) yoke depart from the people and his burden depart from their shoulders. This is the Lord’s purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth (regarded as conquered and put under tribute by Assyria); and this is (His Omnipotent) hand that is stretched out over the nations. For the Lord of hosts has purposed and who can annul it? And His hand is stretched out, And who can turn it back? In the year that King Ahaz (of Judah) died……………. Many will say in this day do we have any hope? Yokes and burdens are plenty to share and the power to rebuke there seems none to dare. What of the Lord? In prayer we journey and find ourselves at a wall. First we rebuke and surround demanding the walls to come down. Then we lament and mourn. Next we attack with powerful dynamite and repeated prayers. Exhausted we sit at the wall and something amazing happens. We look up. The wall is not 5ft or 6ft not even 45 ft. but it is infinite in height. It simply never ends. Higher than all and anyone and anything, the plans, thoughts and purposes of God stand forever. The Wall of God. At some point in the life of a believer, prayer finds this wall. Perplexed we can find ourselves becoming the enemy. The obstacle to our own deliverance. God’s ways are not our ways. The Wall. The Wall. The Wall really is a law. The law of God written on everything He has created. The Law says, God created all things. By His hand and His power He sustains all for His own pleasure and delight. For the Glory of God now and forever. Hallelujah! God creates all things for Himself. Even the Assyrians. The enemies. The invaders. The captors. The slave masters. The first step to deliverance is understanding that your imprisonment is for His glory to be revealed. Second step, this passage speaks of His thoughts, His plans and His purposes. His thoughts are His mind, the Word of God. His plans are the works and ways of His hand. His purposes are His heartbeat. So often we find ourselves only walking in the light of His thoughts. Or zealously pursuing the works of His hand. Maybe simply enjoying the pulses of His heart. The secret to deliverance is not to overtake the enemy. But to attract the God of the universe. As the sweet smelling aroma of Manoah’s offering pleased the Son of God So He will come to the fragrance of a life lived in the Wall. As we seek to walk in His Word, having His thoughts, synchronized into His ways and the works of His hand, His timing, yielded to His leading… and yes marching to the beat of His heart. Union of His life to my life. His Heart to my heart. His Hand to my hand. His Mind to my mind. His Feet to my feet. There a transformation occurs. We no longer exist in simple frames of time. But we fall, where countless before have, and say yes Lord. Let the Wall fall on me. Your Kingdom God. Your will be done. To the Glory of Your name. It is as the Wall of God stands on your life……………. …………………………….. That I will break the Assyrian in My land, and upon my mountains I will tread him underfoot. Then shall the (Assyrian’s) yoke depart from the people and his burden depart from their shoulders. There He breaks the yoke and the burden departs. The mountains are removed. Crush me Lord Jesus under the weight of your infinite love. Stronger than granite. His thoughts, His plans and His purposes are for you. |
